Habits
Mounds. Fire ants build large nest mounds that are irregular in shape, nearly flat, and can range in size from two to four feet square.
Consequences of Fire Ants
Prevention of this invasive insect is of utmost importance. Especially if you have a family member or employee that has an allergy to insect stings.
Though often referred to as a “bite”, fire ants actually sting. The sting is painful and the reaction to a sting can range from a raised welt that becomes a white pustule, to a severe allergic reaction.
If you are stung by one ant, you will often receive multiple stings. These stings are often the result of disturbing a nest.
To prevent them from entering your home, seal all internal and external cracks and crevices.
